Ottawa Chapter Chair
Mark D. Kershey
"Louis Pasteur said that ‘chance favours the prepared mind.’ I keep this quote on the wall above my desk to remind me that innovation is born from a combination of what you know and what you experience. Every budding entrepreneur should embrace this axiom because innovation often springs from unexpected places and from the cross-pollination of disciplines. The secret is to recognize it.”
Mark Kershey is the chair for the Manning Innovation Awards Ottawa chapter, bringing extensive experience in both technology executive leadership and entrepreneurship. Mark was Managing Director of Global Sales & Marketing at Nortel Semiconductor, VP Business Development at MOSAID Technologies and VP International Business Development at Unitron Industries. Mark left his semiconductor roots in 2000 armed with 20 years of experience in high-technology engineering, sales, marketing, and senior management, and he jumped into entrepreneurship with both feet.
Mark founded Magnitude Partners to provide management consulting services and fundraising assistance to early-stage technology companies. Mark also co-founded and served as President of Spartan Bioscience, a point-of-care PCR product for healthcare, iWatchLife Inc., a video-surveillance- as-a-service (VSaaS) company and MuzeLounge Inc. a music technology company.
As part of his commitment to giving back, Mark advises early-stage technology companies and shares the lessons he has learned on his entrepreneurial journey. Mark sits on the Board of RetroTrust Corporation, a company addressing the rapidly evolving field of identity assurance.
Mark is a graduate of Conestoga Collage in Electronics Engineering Technology and received a 2011 Alumnus of Distinction Award.
