Background Information – the Foundation and the Awards

The Manning Innovation Awards
The Ernest C. Manning Awards Foundation has been discovering, encouraging and rewarding Canadian innovators and telling their stories for 37 years. Each year, four Canadian innovators are chosen through a Nobel-inspired selection process, and share in prizes worth $145,000. The awards are presented at the Awards Dinner, attended by industry leaders, innovators and innovation thought leaders.

The Manning Innovation Symposium
The Symposium is held in conjunction with the awards dinner. It features TED-like talks by the 2018 Manning Laureates, who share their innovation journeys with post-secondary students. The presentations will be live-streamed and recorded for video production. In 2018, we are launching the Emerging Innovators’ Pitch Competition, where early-stage innovators will be selected by on-site and on-line audience members.
